Sacred Bukhara is one of the most esteemed cities of Islamic civilization. Such outstanding theologians as imam al-Bukhari, al-Gijduvani, Saif ad-Din Bokharzi and Baha ad-Din Naqshband preached here in the Middle Ages. In 10th - nth centuries Bukhara was the capital of the Samanid state, since the 16th century - capital of Bukhara khanate. The last amir of Bukhara was dethroned in 1920 and Bukhara Republic was founded. In 1925 Bukhara became a part of Uzbek SSR, and in 1991 - a part of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Historical center of Bukhara was entered in the UNESCO's list of the World Heritage.
