Kazakhstan is a country occupying the majority of the Central Asia. Except for some northern areas, the whole territory is a vast and eternal Steppe. The country has a population of around 18 mln people as of 2016. People living in Kazakhstan have a very interesting nomadic culture and ancient traditions of animal breeding and steppe lifestyles. Kazakhs belong to the Turkik language group, and have similar language to the people living in neigbor countries: Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. Only one central asian republic, Tajikistan, speaks a different language, Tajik, of a Persian group.

Almaty

Almaty is a big city, with an overall population of around 1,8 mln people. The city is often called the southern capital of Kazakhstan. It is an important cultural, financial and political center. The travelers arriving in Almaty can expect to see a modern city with elaborate and state-of-the-art environment. The city offers plenty of attractions, including museums, art galleries, and entertainment centers. Outside the city, zealous travelers will find attractions based on proximity of mountains, such as the famous Medeo Skating Rink and Shymbulak ski resort. There are over 80 mountain lakes around the city, with gorgeous views and untouched nature. See more about tours in Almaty here.

Astana

Astana is the new capital of Kazakhstan. The new status was assigned to the city in 1997 upon a decision of the first president N. Nazarbaev. The city is naturally divided into two parts, old and new, by the Ishim river. The new part (river's left bank) is now a huge construction site, with numerous skyscrapers, business centers and residential complexes. The old part is the traditional city, better equipped with various amenities and services. See more about tours in Astana here.
